Not sure what to wear for your upcoming Fall senior photo session? We have your back! We LOVE helping our high school senior clients put together outfits for their sessions as it’s one of our fave seasons! With the warm light and tones, it makes the most beautiful backdrop for senior pictures! So let’s dive in and curate a gorgeous fall senior session wardrobe!
Let’s start with the basics! Here’s 3 top tips when balancing your fall trends, textures, and accessories.
1. If you want to wear a fun fall print like fall florals or leopard print, anchor it with a solid piece so that your outfit isn’t too busy. The last thing you want is the attention on your mixed prints instead of your beautiful face.
#2. If you want to mix trendy fall textures, remember to mix a heavy weighted texture (like tweed, wool, cable knit) with a smoother or lighter textured piece (like leather, satin, or suede). This will keep your outfit balanced and not too heavy, adding weight to your style.
#3. If you want to wear an overcoat, large scarf, or oversized sweater/cardigan, try to keep the rest of your pieces form fitting so that the entire outfit doesn’t swallow your figure whole.
Speaking of accessories, here’s a few quick and easy ways to elevate your fave fall outfit!
1. Headbands are all the rage right now! Most are showing up in either velvet or satin fabrics and they’re all in darker fall hues like ruby, noir, emerald, mustard, and eggplant!
2. Blanket Scarves are the perfect cold weather accessory! These show up in large & wide panels of heavy fabrics (cable knit is a huge seasonal fave) with super soft material. Pro-tip: if your outfit is mostly solid, you can opt for a more patterned or printed scarf and if your outfit is full of color and personality prints, go for a more solid scarf to anchor the look.
3. Beanies & Berets are this season’s go-to hats! We are seeing these pop up in shades of cream, camel, and dusty rose, or in prints of houndstooth, leopard, and plaid!
